Day 3

Open and Honest Communication

Once you know about your communication challenges, consider taking action to shift. For example, if it’s hard to communicate your thoughts and emotions or if you discover you handle conflicts or disagreements by closing down or becoming argumentative, I invite you to practice Non-violent Communication, developed by Marshall Rosenberg. This is a four-step process.

ACTION FOR THE DAY:

Take one thing that happened and write a practice letter to the person it happened with using the steps:

Describe the situation.

How did it affect you?
What do you hope to change about yourself?
What do you wish the other would consider changing knowing you have no control over them and what they do?

Example: My coworker changed the office furnishings without discussing it. I came to work shocked and feeling invaded.

Share a new discovery or your experience with practicing Non-Violent Communication in the Facebook Group.
