Setting the tone for your day in the morning can make all the difference for the middle – our daily moments – and our quality of sleep. Whether you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, spill your coffee, or feel too comfortable and do not want to leave the house, you can shift your mindset, and have a positive impact on your daily experience. Yes, you can make it happen. Just as the ocean flows in and out so our breath comes in, there is a pause, then we exhale. How you spend your morning can determine the outcome of your day. We live it out until the evening and then is our time to get ready for sleep. Entering each of these cycles with focus and attention can shape our experiences. Here are some questions to help shape yours…
Start the day asking: (You may want to keep a journal each day. Journaling allows you to put things on paper, out of our mind and leaves room for more to develop.)
What am I looking forward to today?
How do I want to be with others today?
What can I contribute to today?
At the end of the day ask questions like:
What did I add value to today?
What added value to me today?
What made me happy today?
What did I learn today?
What challenged me today?
What is one thing I may do differently next time?
What are 10 things I am thankful for today?
Do any evening ritual to aid in your unwinding and drifting off to sleep. Turn off all electronics and lower the lights. Do some deep breathing. Maybe listen to beautiful music or do a body scan meditation to relax. Goodnight.
